Angelita Scott, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of Interior Design at Georgia Southern University and owner of Angie Scott Design. Her research takes a proactive approach to the interior environment focusing on the intersection of the built environment and well-being, and the intersection of culture and the built environment. Through these perspectives she focuses on mental health, stress reduction, and occupant satisfaction. Dr. Scott has worked in the interior design profession as a practitioner, educator, and researcher for nearly 20 years.
Dr. Scott earned a Ph.D. in interior design with a focus on evidence-based design from the University of Minnesota and also holds a Master of Business Communication certificate from the University of St. Thomas. She was recently named a WELL Community Advisor for the WELL Building Institute, has spoken at numerous national and regional conferences, and was named an American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Ones to Watch Award winner and Scholar recipient. Her business, Angie Scott Design, focuses on well-being consulting services for residential and housing professionals. She believes interior designers have the ability to make great contributions to the human condition by supporting a human-centered design approach. Through the lens of well-being and social justice, she hopes to empower people as change agents for the greater good.
